Bytemark Virtual Hosting
The Bytemark virtual hosting system consists of a number of packages which allow a user to manage the hosting of websites, email, and FTP with only a minimum of technical knowledge. They are ideal for newcomers to Linux, or people who don't want to spend their time learning how to be their own system administrator.
These packages are available as both source and binary packages, and can turn a pristine Debian Etch system into a system capable of serving a number of virtual hosts in a simple, predictable, and easy to understand fashion.
If you have your system configured already to serve sites, or handle email, then be warned that installing our packages will almost certainly break that setup.
Supported Applications
The Bytemark virtual hosting platform supports the following types of virtual hosting:
- Websites with Apache 2.x & PHP 5.x
- FTP hosting to upload your website content
- Email Hosting including webmail
- A firewall to protect your system
Additionally your host will be configured to follow a set of security guidelines which should keep your system secure, and our automated backup system will help guard against file loss.
